[R-SIG-Mac] how do I clear this error message?

I seem to be getting this message consistently after updating the OS to 
10.14.6 (18G87), when I try to change my working directory. I have 
re-installed XQuartz and updated R to 3.6.1 and I'm still getting the 
message when I try to switch directories, rebooting various times along 
the way.

Any help greatly appreciated.
