[R] Second axis on bottom of graph

[Hurr]

How can I:
1) make ticks shorter or longer 
2) make ticks cross the axis line
3) make ticks project toward the plot 
4) make grid lines 
5) make perpendicular labels be 
   close to the axis near ticks 
   projecting away from the plot
