[R] Convert date column with two different structures

Try the following.

idx <- grep("[[:alpha:]]", df$Date)

Date <- as.Date(df$Date, "%m/%d/%y")
Date[idx] <- as.Date(paste("01", df$Date[idx]), "%d %b-%y")
