I think he needs
plot(1,main=paste("aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa\n",
"bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb", sep = ""))
or simply
plot(1, main="aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa\nbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb")
