[R] How to flatten a tree (based on list) to a certain depth?

Does `unlist(root, recursive=FALSE)` get you what you want?

R> unlist(root, recursive=FALSE)
$main1.sub1
  x y
1 1 1
2 2 2
3 3 3

$main1.sub2
  u  v
1 7 11
2 8 12
3 9 13

$main2.sub3
  p q
1 3 6
2 4 7
3 5 8
