It probably means that your data is not in the right format. PLEASE do
read the posting guide http://www.R-project.org/posting-guide.html
and provide commented, minimal, self-contained, reproducible code.

If you show the data, it might help.  It sounds like something is
empty, but it is hard to tell what from the information provided.
