[R] neural network

I just discovered the R language and was trying to implement a neural network. I got it to work but it does not seem that I can get it to converge to a good enough optimization. The best I obtained for the final value was around 11 and when I use the predic function, my results do not look bery good.
Anyway, if anybody has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to know what the final value represents and how it is calculated.
