[R] Can't upgrade R properly with Debian potato

Uhh. Was your Debian current? Did you apply the security updates?

I'd be happy to help you off-line. Let me know exactly what version of
Debian you installed. We do not have current packages for Debian 2.2
("stable") but it is straightforward to compile yourself. 

Or to upgrade to the pre-release of Debian 3.0 which I what I'd recommend.

Ask for me details on either route, if you need them.
