[R] slow start-up

How fast is starting Rterm in a terminal window? It takes around a second
on my 366MHz machine. If that is fast, it is an ESS problem, better sent
to the ESS list (and possibly better sent there anyway: see the rw-FAQ).
Do you have an existing .RData? That can take a long time to read,
if large and complex objects are in it. Try timing Rterm --vanilla.
