[R] interrupted (and multiple) plots

The function matplot() is essentially designed for
putting more than one line on a plot.  It also works
for interrupted lines.  The trick is to have some
columns that have one line segment, and other columns
with the other segment.  Try, for example:

 m1 <- matrix(c(1,2,NA,NA,NA,NA,NA,NA,3,4),5,2)
