You will need to tell us the version and platform of R you are using ...
If you mean R CMD BATCH (Unix/Linux) or Rcmd BATCH (Windows), infile be
any file of R commands, such as you type at the command prompt, and you
can do everything that does not need interaction from the user.

Yes.
If you want to find out more, look in Venables & Ripley's S Programming
(2000), for example. If there is not enough help in ?BATCH then I suspect
the problem is not with the help page but with your preconceptions.
