[R] Code completion

Hi John,

I'm also new and enthusiastic.

Have you tried the ESS package with emacs? It's not quite what you're
describing here, but it's got some common features. If you haven't
used it, check it out at

ESS does provide command completion. It's not sophisticated enough
(as far as I can tell) to provide context-specific completion. It
does function and object name completion, but doesn't go so far as
to trace options for the function you may be editing. It makes the
help quite a bit easier to read and integrate into your work, though.

FWIW, I've been working on Unix systems for years now, where emacs is
widely available, and ESS is the first thing that made me like emacs.
That's not a flame - I just happen to find emacs not suited to my taste
in software. ESS is helping me overcome this, as it makes R so much
more fun, easy, and useful.
