Doug Bates has averted me;
and I have since stopped these to be propagated to R-help

[[ they are now bounced into my (mainter) mail box, only .. ]]
Next measure will be to unsubscribe whoever's E-mail address is the
culprit..

I'm sorry, dear R-help readers, 
for any possible confusion.
I hope Doug Bates' quick reaction has prevented some of it..
