[R] Problem reading in table with extra spaces

I tried to read it in using R-1.1.0 on WinNT4.0:
read.table("c:/blah/test.txt")
and it works fine for me.
Please give some informations about your system, your version of R and
how you tried to solve your problem, then you will get faster and maybe
better answers from this list.
