Sounds good. By using R --vsize 100M I was able to plot a full
resolution
world map with map("world.full") using Ray's port of the Becker/Wilks
code and data.
It took about 3 minutes for the map to appear (on an old 64 meg RAM
266MHz Pentiium II
running SuSE Linux 6.1), but it did work, and R (0.65.0) was perfectly
stable afterwards. Very impressive!
